Apple Pie is a favorite in our home, especially during the holidays. This year, I tried something new and I am so glad I did. I decided to add Atacora Raw African Honey to the mix, adding the most amazing flavor, to the point where our guess were drooling for more. No Joke!

What makes this Apple Pie Recipe so amazing? Raw African Honey

Atacora Raw African Honey comes from deep within the mountains from Benin, West Africa. It is hand crafted, and the bees feed off of the Baobab, Shea, Mango, and Acacia Tree. It has the most amazing aromatics and  has an old charm of Molasses notes , but is not overwhelmingly sweet.


The Best Apple Pie Recipe:

3 lb Golden Delicious apples, peeled, cut into 1 1/2-inch chunks (8 cups)
1/2 cup Raw African Honey
3 tablespoons Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
( or Gluten Free substitute)
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 box Pillsbury™ refrigerated pie crusts, softened as directed on box
(or Gluten Free Pillsbury Pie Crust)
2 tablespoons honey (to coat the top)

1. Move oven rack to lowest position. Heat oven to 400°F. In large bowl, mix apples, 1/2 cup honey, flour and cinnamon, tossing to coat.
2. Place 1 pie crust in 9 1/2-inch glass deep-dish pie plate as directed on box. Spoon apple mixture into crust, mounding in center. Top with second crust; seal edges and flute. Cut 4 slits in top crust to allow steam to escape. Place pie plate on cookie sheet.
3. Bake on lowest oven rack 55 to 60 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly. Brush with 2 tablespoons honey. Cool completely on cooling rack, about 4 hours.

This truly is one of the best apple pies I have ever had. I since started experimenting and started adding Raw African Honey to other dishes and baked goods. I am glad that I did because this honey really adds an extra flavor like no other!
